Wood borer

Powder post beetles also known as Wood bores. Unlike termite it is equally important pest, which destroys wood. The main sign of infestation is yellowish powder falling from furniture, which are excreta of organism. They infest more likely in areas with high humidity, such as poorly ventilated crawl spaces.

Larvae of the bore live for years feeding on the wood-creating network of internal tunnels throughout the timber and can quickly reduce it to powder.

SilverFish

Silver fish appear white to brown –grey or bluish-silver in color, they are teardrop-shaped insects that measure up to 12-19 mm in length. Three long bristles on rear. They grow from egg to adult without visible change in appearance.

Behavior, diet & habits

Capable of thriving in all type of climates, they prefer to dwell in dark, damp areas such as basements, atticks, kitchens and bathrooms. They are especially attracted to paper and damp clothing. Commonly found in stored boxes in garages and sheds.

Silverfish feed on carbohydrates, particularly sugars and starches. Cellulose, shampoos, glue in books, linen, silk and dad insects may be food sources. They are also found in unopened food packages.

Signs of silverfish infestation

We can find out on the floor or in a sink or bathtub. Their feeding damage also can indicate presence of silverfish, along with their tiny pepper like feces.

Prevention and control

Silverfish are nocturnal and move very quickly. They are secretive, and the severity of an infestation may not know for long time. They reproduce quickly.
